Heating and Air Conditioning Experts

When it comes to year-round living, most people appreciate that Maryland sees four full seasons. If you like variety, you’ll get it in this mid-Atlantic state. That means gorgeous spring afternoons, hot summer days perfect for a dip in the pool, crisp autumn days, and cold, snowy winters.

It’s a nice mix, but there are some things to consider if you settle into the area. Our winters can be blustery, and that means you’ll want to take the time to seal up any drafty cracks you find. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to tune-up the furnace and heat pump. Most of the snow falls in January and February, but thankfully, it’s usually short-lived.

Choose Us for Your Comfort

Summers on the other hand can drag on. When it’s a perfect, sunshine-filled day, it makes for great outdoor activities. But, fair warning, July and August can be scorchers. You’ll want to make sure your central air conditioning is running smoothly, especially so it can tackle the excess moisture from the muggy, humid summers. Keep things in good-working order, and you should have no trouble adapting to the weather, all-year round.

frequantly asked questions

What’s Wrong With My Furnace?

There are a couple things you can check. Did your circuit breaker fail? Check to see if it tripped. What about your air filter? Have you checked it lately? Is it dirty? Try replacing it with a clean filter. Lastly, be sure to check your thermostat battery and settings.

What Should I Do If My Furnace Is Not Working?

Step 1. Check the thermostat. Is it set to heat? Is it set to on?

Step 2. Go to your furnace and check the switch. Is it set to on?

Step 3. Your circuit breaker may have tripped without you realizing. Quickly give that a glance.

Step 4. Check the furnace filter. If it’s dirty, get a new one. A clogged filter causes issues.

Step 5. Check the furnace’s front panel. Make sure it didn’t come undone or loosen. Secure it tightly.

Step 6. Is the gas valve set to on?

Step 7. Did you make sure your air ducts are clear? Blocked ducts can cause an issue.

Step 8. If these steps didn’t fix the issue, call a professional.

What’s The Life Span Of Furnaces?

The age of your system an important part of this. Look at the cost of repair and frequency. Then, you’ll use the $5000 rule. What this does is it multiplies the age by the cost of repair per year. When that cost is less than $5000, we suggest you repair it. For example, if your furnace is 12 years old, and the repair will cost $500, multiply 12X500=6000. Because this is larger than $5000, we think it’s better to replace it in this instance.

Should You Repair Or Replace Your Furnace?

How Much Does Furnace Repair Cost?

The cost of furnace repair varies a lot. This has to do with what’s wrong with your furnace. Expect it can be in the range from $100 to $1200. The average repair cost is closer to $300, though. In most cases, the bills run about $170 to $500. What you pay depends on a couple of different things like the type of furnace, if it’s under warranty, along with parts and labor costs.

How Often Should Do You Need To Have Your Furnace Serviced?

We recommend you service your furnace at least once a year and suggest you do it in the fall before it gets cold. Furnace manufacturers all recommend annual inspections and maintenance. An important thing to understand is that many of them require proof of prior maintenance when it comes to warranty claims. A clean and maintained furnace also saves you money on utility bills, along with extending the life of the furnace.
